Green Tree Python

The Green Tree Python is one of the most visually stunning snakes in the reptile hobby, renowned for its brilliant emerald-green coloration and distinctive resting posture draped neatly over branches. Native to the tropical rainforests of New Guinea, Indonesia, and the Cape York Peninsula of Australia, these arboreal constrictors spend the vast majority of their lives in the canopy. Juveniles are born in vivid shades of bright yellow, red, or occasionally brown, and undergo a dramatic color change to green over their first one to two years of life. Adults typically reach four to six feet in length and require tall, well-ventilated enclosures with horizontal perching branches and carefully maintained humidity levels between 60 and 80 percent. While they are not typically aggressive, Green Tree Pythons are best appreciated as a display animal rather than a frequent handling species, making them ideal for keepers who enjoy building naturalistic arboreal vivariums.
